WHO ARE YOU?
1Pe 2:9-12 But ye are a chosen generation [Abraham’s seed: Gal 3:25-29], a royal priesthood [A King-Priest ministry; Rev 1:6; Rev 5:10], an holy nation [Rom 2:28-29; Rom 9:6; Gal 6:15-16], a peculiar people [A people for a possession; a special people];
that ye should shew forth the praises [A virtuous course of thought, feeling and action] of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:10 Which in time
past were not a people [All those who are of the same stock and language],
but are now the people of God: which had not
obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Dearly
beloved, I beseech you as strangers [One who lives in a place without the right of citizenship] and
pilgrims [One who comes from a foreign country into a city
or land to reside there by the side of the natives],
abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your
conversation [Manner of life] honest [Properly;
beautiful; commendable] among the Gentiles [Heathen nations; not
of the kingdom of God]: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers,
they may by your good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of visitation [Investigation;
inspection].
