TO INHERIT ALL THINGS

A BIBLE STUDY

FEBRUARY 13, 2022




Close out last Sunday's message:

Ps 139:15-16 [From Robbie] (NASU)

15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;

16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.


1 Cor 2:9-10

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.


Remembering those things God prepared for us before

the foundation of the world:

Matt 13:34-35 [Jesus spoke things kept secret from the foundation of the world]

1 Peter 1:18-21 [Christ and His work were forordained before the foundation of the world]

Rev 13:8 [The Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world]

Heb 4:1-4 [We may by faith enter God's rest for the works were finished from the foundation of the world]

Eph 1:3-6 [You were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world]

2 Tim 2:15-19 [We stand now on all these promises made certain to us by this Sure Foundation: the Lord knows them that are His]


These things were prepared for us before the foundation of the world that we might during our sojourn in the earth secure an inheritance through preparation to receive it. Preparation??Bible inheritance differs greatly from our earthly understanding of “Inheritance.”


All this preparation was made before creation began that you and I might be heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ.


Rom 8:14-17

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.




We make biblical inheritance parallel earthly inheritance: the two are nowhere near the same

  1. Our Father will never die; but His heirs will die, either literally (as Jesus did) or to self, both here and hereafter

  2. The heir must now be a good steward over that which belongs to God if he will receive that which is to be his own by inheritance

  3. If we will receive an inheritance from our Heavenly Father, then we must, spiritually speaking, live in and obediently steward our inheritance now


HERE ARE ARTICLES OF OUR INHERITANCE

1/ Luke 10:25-28 [Inherit eternal life]

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

2/ Phil 3:20-21 [Inherit a new body]

20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

3/ Matt 5:5 [Inherit the earth]

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [Deep Disappointment! We were promised heaven!! By whom???]

4/ Rom 4:13-18 [Inherit the world (Kosmos)]

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world , was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. [World - Kosmos- orderly arrangement; government; may extend is scope to include all creation]

5/ Matt 25:31-34 [At the end we will inherit the Kingdom of God, which Kingdom was prepared for us from the foundation of the world, and which is the encapsulation of every preparation and promise of God to receive it]

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

6/ Rev 21:7 [Say it another way: Capstone verse concerning our inheritance: ALL THINGS]

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

OVERCOME WHAT??? LET'S FIRST SEE WHO WILL NOT INHERIT ANYTHING:

1/ 1 Cor 6:9-11 [The unrighteous]

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

2/1 Cor 15:50-58 [Flesh and blood]

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.is thy victory?


57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

3/ Gal 5:19-21 [Those that manifest the works of the flesh]

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.


THEN, WHAT MUST THE RIGHTEOUS DO TO INHERIT?

1/ Luke 2:49 [Follow Jesus' example when He was 12 years old]

49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?


Luke 16:10-12 [Passage concludes the parable of the unjust steward: We must be good stewards now of the Kingdom of God in its present invisible spiritual form, being typical of everything we are destined to inherit in material form, whether it be eternal life, a new body, the earth, the world, the Kingdom of God in full unto all things, if we are to become heirs of the same]

10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? [Your inheritance]


Matt 25:14-15 [The parable of the talents]

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

The servants receiving the five and two talents used what they were given to gain more; the servant receiving one talent buried it in the ground and gained nothing. I will read the end of the one who did not use his talent to gain more for his Master


27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.


The Kingdom in full manifestation is our Father's Kingdom; We will inherit it in its full material form if we have taken biblical care of it now in its present immaterial form; We will inherit eternal life if we have surrendered completely this temporary life to our Father's will; We will inherit our body in glorified immortal form if we have taken biblical care of it in its material mortal form; We will inherit the earth made new if we have been good stewards over it now in its corrupted condition; We will inherit the world to come if we have lived biblically as salt and light in the world that is now; We will inherit all things if we will overcome our fallen human compulsion to use all this temporal creation to satisfy our own selfish desires and submit our every use of it to our Heavenly Father's will.


1 John 3:2-3

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.


Eph 1:1-14 [Finally Brethren:] [Detailed study coming on Wed nites]

EPHESIANS 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
