THE SEED

            For many years I adamantly contended that the Lord Jesus Christ never mentioned His birthday, much less did He instruct us in any way to remember or celebrate it.  And, besides, how could the eternal Son of God, being very Lord Himself, have a birthday?   Thank God for time, growth and revelation!

            While it is true that Emmanuel, the LORD, the eternal Son of God, could not possibly
have a birthday (He did have a day of incarnation), and the CHRIST, the promised anointing of God upon human flesh, could not be birthed (He is conferred), JESUS, the Son of Man was most certainly born into the earth.  The man Jesus, the seed of the woman, did have a birthday.  The anointed man, Jesus the Christ, the seed of Abraham, did have a birthday.  King Jesus, the seed of David, did have a birthday.  As the Lord experienced a day of incarnation, the body provided Him in Bethlehem’s manger experienced a birthday.  All these “Seeds” came together as one SEED: He is the Lord Jesus Christ; He is THE LAST ADAM.  This is the birth of the Progenitor of a new species of creature.  For all this, perhaps we should with the greatest joy celebrate a day commemorating His birth.  

Matt 1:23-25

23        Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24        Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25        And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.


Acts 9:22

22        But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

Mary was found with Child of the Holy Ghost (Matt 1:18-21), which child is very God Himself.  This child would be called Emmanuel (Matt 1:23 above): God the Son is with us; and, He will never leave us.  This “Seed” of God has His Father’s blood, for a child’s father gives him the same.   This Child is the LORD.

            Mary was found with child of the Holy Ghost, which child is very man himself.  This child would save his people from their sins (Matt 1:25).  This “seed” of the woman has his mother’s flesh and bone for he was “made of a woman” (Gal 4:4).  This child is JESUS.

            Mary was found with child of the Holy Ghost, which child is the incarnate promise that God made to Abraham (Gen 22:17-18).   This “seed” of Abraham is to bless all nations and to be in number as the stars of the heaven (Gen 15:5; Gal 3:29), and yet one “seed” (Gal 3:16).  This child is JESUS THE CHRIST.

            Mary was found with child of the Holy Ghost, which child is David’s promised Seed-King (Isa 9:6-7; Rom 1:3).  The Maji would bear witness of this truth: He is KING JESUS.

Mary was found with child of the Holy Ghost, which child is the NEW CREATION MAN.  Begotten of four seeds, He is become ONE Seed. He is the LORD JESUS CHRIST.  He is a completely new kind of creature wholly unlike any other before Him.  He is the Seed of God, the seed of the woman, the seed of Abraham and the seed of David in one vessel.  He is so radically different in nature from all who came before Him that He is given a title fitting a fresh beginning for mankind.  He is the Manseed of the new heaven and the new earth: He is the “LAST ADAM” (1 Cor 15:45).

For this I joyfully abandon my former “scrooge” attitude toward Christmas and say with all thanksgiving to God for His unspeakable gift: Happy Birthday Jesus!
