MADE WITHOUT HANDS

Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

When delivered from Egyptian bondage the Church
in the Wilderness built according to divine blueprint a most elaborate and expensive house for God to inhabit…and He did (Exodus 25).  The Holy Homes that came after were even more elaborate, and more expensive.  Seemed that God’s Chosen were always eager to spend extravagantly to assure Him a dwelling of magnificence with materials and content of His own order.  Wonderful!  God was with them, and living in His own house that they built for Him.

Immanuel: God is with us.  He resides, however, not at all now within walls of gold, silver and precious stones, nor of wood, brick or mortar, but within His many-membered Temple of earthly flesh: the body of Christ.

So sad that we don’t understand Old Testament example and New Testament transition: we are yet spending mountains of money on building and maintaining “temples made with hands” uninhabited by the Divine, while at once seriously under funding the building, the teaching, training and maturing of our Father’s chosen place of dwelling: You (1 Cor 3:16-17; Eph 2:19-22).
